The Kay Yow Cancer Fund launched a Servant Leader program in November 2024, which recognizes student-athletes who best embody the characteristics of Coach Kay Yow – a person with a servant’s spirit and a commitment to selfless leadership both on and off the court.
Kay Yow lost her 22-year battle with cancer in 2009, and this Servant Leader program was established to honor her legacy while uplifting positive role models in women’s basketball.
This logo represents the character traits of Kay Yow; uplifting, powerful, helpful, and someone who draws and gives strength. It also nods to the ripple effect of servant leadership.
Student-athletes are recognized with Servant Leader patches sown onto their jerseys for the 24-25 season. See a full list of the 24-25 season winners here.
